Shirin Neshat's Women Without Men

Shirin Neshat's feature-film debut, Women Without Men (2009), is a must see. The narrative reveals the story of four women in early 1950's Iran and explores the limitations of lives lived under oppressive conditions. Years ago I wrote an article for Ms. Magazine, "Shirin Neshat Sees Beyond The Veil,"and had an opportunity to meet the artist and discuss her process and personal history. Her work is exquisite--graceful and political.
